I am considering updating the operating systems for the 10 iMac desktop computers in our School of Education lab. I am wondering what other higher education professionals have to say about the new Apple OSX -- Snow Leopard.

Everything that I have read about Snow Leopard has been positive. The speed that your system is supposed to gain should make it worthwhile. Also, the pricing is very reasonable compared to past releases. My understanding is that it is not scheduled for release until September. I was not a beta tester so I can't say "I have used it and it rocks, so buy it today." I can say that I have always been an earlier adopter of Apple releases. The only time I have had issues was when non-Apple applications had a lag of a couple months before being ready for the new release. If you don't use many third party applications, I think you will be fine if you adopt the new OS in the first wave.

Thank you for your reply. I teach all of my classes in a computer lab with 10 Windows XP and 10 Apple OSX machines. I have had a few concerns using Parallels on the iMacs, but nothing else. I am planning to update my personal home iMac computer as soon as possible, but I wanted to gather any insight from early adapters about issues or concerns I might explore with the new Snow Leopard.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
